Patrick Cassidy [b. Sept. 1821] and Mary [maiden name unknown, b. 1826] marry about 1849 in New York City. Patrick was born Parish Ballyscullin, County Derry, Ireland; Mary was born in County Derry. Patrick worked as a ship rigger. In 1855 he and his family moved to 294 Eckford Street, Greenpoint, Brooklyn. At the time Greenpoint was a major ship building center; also in 1855 St Anthony's Roman Catholic Church opens. By 1858 Patrick and his wife Mary own a grocery store on the corner of Eckford and Calyer streets. Patrick dies 17 April 1876. Mary Cassidy dies between 1880 and 1892. Of the six known children, only Margaret is known to have married; she marries Philip McCaffrey and they have four children.
