• City Harvest
  Established in 1982, City Harvest has a simple mission: to help end hunger by "harvesting" food that otherwise would be wasted, and distributing it to agencies feeding the hungry. City Harvest receives food donations from such sources as supermarkets, corporate cafeterias, restaurants, and catered affairs. A fleet of seven refrigerated trucks picks up excess food and delivers it to soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and social service agencies. All donated food is given free to these non-profit groups. In turn, they must distribute it free to their clients.
• Clinton Community Gardens
  Located on West 48th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues, in New York's Hell's Kitchen, the Garden is open daily from dawn to dusk. It is locked but neighborhood residents can obtain keys from Steering Committee meetings.
• The Computerized AIDS Ministries Network (CAM)!
  CAM is a program of the Health and Welfare Ministries Program Department, General Board of Global Ministries, of The United Methodist Church. CAM'S purpose is HIV/AIDS information, education and support. Different forums serve these purposes. Persons who remain on CAM are expected to participate in our purpose. A goal of CAM is to create a safe space for its community of users to gain information and support.
• Conservancy for Historic Battery Park

Each summer, 10,000 children escape the heat and stress of the city to visit volunteer host families in 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada or The Fund's five camps in Fishkill, New York.

  Goods for Guns is a new organization with an innovative approach to reducing the amount of violence in the U.S. In exchange for turning over unregistered guns, which are a major cause of accidental handgun death, participants receive toys and other goods which make the lives of all those involved much brighter and safer. The idea has already resulted in the elimination of several thousand guns in the New York City area.

• Center for Korean American Culture Inc.
  Center for Korean American Culture(CKAC) was established by some college students and graduates six years ago. Founding members got together to learn about Korean culture and traditions that young Korean Americans hardly knew at the time. At the first time, they were not very organized; they themselves did not know what to do with what they were studying and learning. But, soon they realized that pure cultural practice of Korean traditions were not the issue for them any more. The most important thing for them was to learn and find their identities as Korean Americans and thereby to determine the best way to live in this country.

  The cast-iron shelter at Hernshead in Central Park known as the Ladies Pavilion was designed by Jacob Wrey Mould in 1871 to serve as a shelter for trolley passengers at the Eighth Avenue and 59th Street park entrance.
• Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc.
  A national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men and people with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work. Headquartered in New York, and with offices in Los Angeles and Chicago, Lambda has national and regional expertise in all aspects of sexual orientation and HIV-related policy and law.

  One of the largest private, non-profit drug abuse services agency in the country and provides treatment for approximately 1,800 adults and adolescents nationwide. A pioneer in the development of modern drug abuse treatment, Phoenix House was among the first to adopt self-help methods that make the individual the focus of treatment and address the underlying causes of drug abuse. Today, Phoenix House operates fourteen long-term residential and outpatient facilities - ten in the New York area and four in California. It also operates the national 1-800-COCAINE help line.
• Prospect Park Alliance
  The Prospect Park Alliance is the keystone in a partnership with the City of New York Parks & Recreation, the Borough of Brooklyn and the corporations, foundations and individuals who invest in maintaining and enriching this beautiful Park in Brooklyn. The Alliance raises private funds for landscape restoration, capital projects, and community programming. In addition, the Alliance oversees the Volunteers in Prospect Park, the award-winning volunteer program that has involved hundreds of people of all ages in Prospect Park.

• Regional Plan Association
  The nation's oldest regional planning organization, Regional Plan Association has worked since 1929 to improve the quality of life in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut metropolitan area by creating long-term plans and promoting their implementation across political boundaries. On the basis of professional research, the Association recommends policy improvements, fosters cooperation among various government and private organizations, and involves the public in considering and shaping its own future. RPA's areas of research include land use planning, transportation, economic development, the environment, governance and social policy.
