Some of my friends in L.A. who saw the film last weekend are putting out some effort on my behalf. Last night I got a letter from Bill Krohn, an old film buff friend and a former Cahiers du Cinema correspondent, who has sent a FAX to the director of the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, asking him to consider my film. Bill is also trying to arrange a meeting between me and Kent Jones, a NYC film writer whose work I admire.
Then today I found out that my friend Gary Walkow, whose film NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND won last year's Taos Talking Pictures Festival, has called the directors of that festival and put in a good word about my film. I telephoned both of his contacts there this afternoon--it's a novel experience to have festival people actually looking forward to my film's arrival, and it probably won't do any harm.
