The trade papers have printed the list of films appearing at this year's
Independent Film Feature Market, and I'm getting the occasional call as
a result. Today someone from the Austin Film Festival phoned to ask
me to submit HONEYMOON. I didn't get the sense that he knows anything
about my film; feeling a little reckless, I told him that his festival
had turned down my rough cut last year, and asked him to check the festival's
notes to see if it was worth my while to submit a second time. He
couldn't find the notes, but told me to submit anyway. So I did,
and, at Donna's urging, I left out the usual application fee. Who
knows, maybe they'll take me more seriously if I don't pay. Or maybe
they're just trying to drum up a little business--I'm not expecting much
one way or another.
