Robin got back to me in the early afternoon--she's game to burn the midnight oil tonight and see what we can do about making this new Sundance deadline. Fortunately, she's not too busy during the day at her editing studio: while I called my friend Hofferman in L.A. to make a plan to get the tapes to his contact at Sundance, she digitized the last of our video dailies.
In the evening, we attacked the last section of the film. By one in the morning we had a finished rough cut. There are a few aesthetic problems with the final scenes, but we're not going for perfection right now, just for something good enough to show to a festival committee (whose members are surely used to looking at unfinished films). We have most of tomorrow to tinker.
