About Emerald Press
"[An Emerald] ... doth both comfort and save, and being borne, it
maketh a man to understand well, and giveth to him a good memory, augmenteth
the riches of him that beareth it, & if any man shall hold it under his
tongue, he shall prophecy anon."
The Book of Secrets of Albertus Magnus
Emerald Press, founded in 1993, is dedicated to republishing interesting books from the Medieval and Renaissance periods which have not been widely available to a modern audience. We have our own personal definition of interesting, including (among other things) popular fiction, plays, works on alchemy and other 'pseudo-sciences', and the medieval version of the True Crime genre.
We welcome commentary from our readers. Please let us know if there is anything you like (or dislike) about our selections, our editing, our layouts, etc. Are there any particular books that you'd like us to consider publishing? Did a typo slip through? Do you think that that weird sentence on page 42 really needed an explanatory note? Drop us a line, and let us know!
