The Matter of France
Alexx's Non-SCA Stories
Storytelling Resources on the Web
These are the current (i.e. more-or-less final) drafts of various stories I've done since I started regularly typing them up to practice on them. Variant (more stand-alone) versions of Orlando episodes are also kept here.
The Romance of Ruggiero and Bradamante
The finale of Orlando Furioso. My masterpiece.
Amorous Fiammetta
A wonderfully bawdy story from Orlando Furioso. The opening
presents the same problem that leads off The Thousand Nights and
a Night. But Italians are very different people than arabs...
Rinaldo and Marfisa
Also known as "Enter Marfisa" and "Marfisa the Invincible". The introduction
of a female saracen knight who is one of the most powerful (and arrogant)
characters in the whole Matter of France.
Audiences love her! This is actually Episode 17
of Orlando Inamorato, just reworked to make it work better as a
stand-alone piece.
The Lawyer's Wife and the Little Dog
Another bawdy story from Furioso, a bit more politically incorrect.
The Castle of Ultimate Cruelty
An early episode from Orlando Inamorato. Warning: this story
contains some extremely disturbing imagery. Not for the faint
of heart. I'm not kidding.
Three Beds and a Cradle
A funny, bawdy bit from The Decameron.
A Christ Taken Prisoner
A funny (and actually true!) anecdote adapted from The Fugger
News-letters.
