All the things I’ve done to the MG during 2006 (as I remember)

  • 24 Nov 2006 (79100):
    Winter tires on.
  • 22 Oct 2006 (79002):
    Reconnected brake booster. Noticable improvement in braking, however, the booster is an obvious vacuum leak. Engine ran significantly faster with leak, so I still have tuning work to do. Also need to decide on course of action regarding the booster. Easiest solution might be a donor car.
  • 14 Oct 2006 (78958):
    Re-installed and tuned carbs as best as I can. Car seems to be running well, with power and acceleration at least as good as before. The great hole in power when shifting to third seems smaller. Changed oil to 10W-30 for the winter.
  • 4 Aug 2006 (78812):
    Replaced Yokos with a set of Bridgestone Potenza i960 all seasons. Tire rack says they will be as good as the Yokos, but last a lot longer. We’ll see.
  • 22 Jul 2006 (78305):
    Noticed significant wear to the inside of my tires, will have to replace them. Took car in for alignment, suspension toe was significantly off (-3/8” rather than the 1/16” it should be).
  • 10 Jul 2006 (77850):
    Replaced cigar lighter, the plastic bezel that held it in place finally gave out. Replaced burned out bulbs for light switch, fan switch, heat control dial. Replaced faulty wire to lighting switch.
  • 7 Jul 2006 (77690):
    Installed fuse on white circuit feed to fuel pump, overdrive.
  • 23 Jun 2006 (77602):
    Replaced exhaust with a locally fabricated setup. I’m not sure if it is much quieter overall, but it seems to be a little quieter when I need it to be. It also points the exhaust slightly down, rather than straight out where it would hit the bikes
  • 27 May 2006 (77284):
    Installed Pertronix Electronic ignition, timed distributor, replaced fuel lines (to clean up the appearance), syncronized and tuned carbs
  • 25 May 2006 (77284):
    Replaced bonnet release cable; the previous one broke at the handle. Replaced very dim speedometer illumination lamp.
  • 13 May 2006 (76706):
    Replaced glass in driver’s side door mirror; previous glass had an unfortunate incident with a deer. Replaced plastic bit in the door that the door pull screws into.
  • 8 April 2006 (76679):
    Winter tires off. Summer tires on.
  • 5 April 2006 (76654):
    Replaced rear suspension dampers. Like the front ones, these are rebuilds from World Wide Auto Parts of Madison. Good stuff.
  • 1 April 2006 (76581):
    Oil change. Also, installed new brake flexible lines, flushed brake fluid.
  • 26 March 2006 (76573):
    Installed amplifier, which hopefully will help prevent the high-frequency sound from washing out when driving quickly with the top down. Discovered rear shocks are leaking, so that will need to be fixed.
  • 18 March 2006 (76483):
    Replaced leaking clutch master cylinder, replaced clutch fluid.
