2 years ago, as NBC stated, Barack Obama was a state senator in Illinois. Tonight, he is the president-elect for the United States of America. I hope that he can live up to even half the man we want him to be. Tonight was historical, something that I have a feeling will be one of those moments when I can look back, years from now and say “I had a small part in the election of Barack Obama” with great fondness.

I have never been more proud of my country than I am tonight. There’s still a lot to do, but tonight is a wonderful step along that path. We have to be able to walk before we can run. Tonight, we learned to jog.
