Series 1981 A $1 Federal Reserve Note Back Check Numbers

Several anomalies are found in the Series 1981 A $1 Federal Reserve Note back check numbers.

Plates from Series 1981 were used to print some of the Series 1981 A notes. There are only 17 different mules: 301, 305, 306, 416, 417, 674, 678, 679, 680, 697, 698, 699, 700, 701, 702, 705, and 706.

Back Check Number 129 Engraving Error
The "129" Back Check Number was incorrectly engraved on left side. The plate was used to print some of the $1 Federal Reserve Notes in June, July, and August of 1985. Both Series 1981 A and 1985 used the "129" back plate.
