• Brooklyn Museum
  The second largest art museum in the State of New York and one of the largest in the country.   The National Design Museum was founded in 1897 by the granddaughters of industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper as the Cooper Union Museum for the Arts of Decoration in lower Manhattan. In 1976 the Museum opened as a branch of the Smithsonian Institution in the landmark Andrew Carnegie Mansion.

• The South Street Seaport Museum
  For almost 200 years, New York City was this country's leading port. The South Street Seaport Museum, founded in 1967, occupies the site of the original port in lower Manhattan. This eleven-square-block historic district of stone-paved streets and eighteenth- and nineteenth-century buildings takes its name from the renowned "Street of Ships," and is now home to the museum's fleet of historic vessels. The museum's mission - embodied in exhibitions, living history demonstrations, education programs for children and adults, and sail training programs - is to trace the history of the port and its commercial and cultural impact on the city, the state, and the nation.
