Volmet Stations on Shortwave
When an airplane is in route to a destination, weather conditions can change dramtically at the destination prior to arrival. Crews on inflight airplanes can listen to HF Volmet stations to monitor changing weather conditions. Volmet stations transmit the weather condition of the major airports in the world. Because of the almost continuous transmissions of the VOLMET station many people use them to check the HF receiving conditions from various parts of the world on various frequencies.
