Beyond Rangoon (John Boorman)

Rating: 2.5

As an adventure film, it's first-rate; as a political film, it's hokey 
and borderline offensive.  Unfortunately, it tries hard to be both.  
Might have been more interesting with a better actor in the lead; 
Patricia Arquette has yet to impress me in anything.  But even a great 
actor couldn't have overcome the banal "traumatized woman finds new 
purpose via political turmoil" storyline.
