Majority of Americans Support Mass Transit
Public opinion polls: A nationwide poll conducted in June 1990 for Transit NOW
reveals strong public support for greater funding for alternatives to driving.
The survey results show:
- 75% of Americans agree or strongly agree that "there are too many people
driving alone to work in their cars, especially in rush hour."
- 82% agree the US should begin now to plan for more transportation choices.
- 72-78% of Americans support increased investment in and incentives for a wide range of public transit options.
