Listowner's Notes Mike Jones, 5/5/98 LISTSERV. Caps in commands are used to denote required items. To get a reference "card", you'd send the command INFO REFCARD to the LISTSERV server. If you are a listowner of a list on the same LISTSERV server then the reference card returned will also show list owner commands. For a more detailed owner's reference you can send INFO OWNER (A) Finding things out about subscribers (B) Changing subscription options (C) Adding or deleting subscribers from the list (D) Getting files for people (E) Comments on commands (F) To post as if the post came from another ID: (G) Listowners functions: (H) Database Searches (I) AFD Commands for Postmaster (J) Distribute (K) ISPs by area code (L) Locating Lists (M) RFCs (N) System people and their addresses (P) Listserve functions (Q) The current digest file ================================================ (A) Finding things out about subscribers ================================================ QUERY LISTNAME WITH CONCEAL FOR *@* (finds all concealed) QUERY LISTNAME FOR USER@SITE.EDU (finds status of a particular subscriber) QUERY LISTNAME WITH NOMAIL FOR *@* (finds all nomail IDs) QUERY LISTNAME WITH NOMAIL NOPOST FOR *@* (finds all IDs with a bounced mail) QUERY LISTNAME WITH REVIEW FOR *@* (finds all IDs in a review status) QUERY LISTNAME WITH SUBJecthdr FOR *@* QUERY LISTNAME WITH MIME FOR *@* SCAN LISTNAME FOR XX ================================================ (B) Changing subscription options ================================================ *@* ( When used in placed of user@site,edu, this is a global command Quiet SET LISTNAME NOPOST for USER@SITE.EDU (Stops postings to the List) Quiet SET LISTNAME REVIEW for USER@SITE.EDU (Posts must be approved by the editor QUIET SET LISTNAME NOREVIEW for USER@SITE.EDU (Stops reviews of a poster's messages QUIET SET LISTNAME DIGEST FOR USER@SITE.EDU (SETs a particular sub to digest) QUIET SET LISTNAME MAIL FOR USER@SITE.EDU (SETs a particular ID to mail) QUIET SET LISTNAME INDex FOR USER@SITE.EDU (SETs a particular ID to index) QUIET SET LISTNAME NODigest FOR USER@SITE.EDU (returns to mail from digest) QUIET SET LISTNAME DUALhdr FOR USER@SITE.EDU (SETs a particular sub to dual headers) QUIET SET LISTNAME SHORThdr FOR USER@SITE.EDU (SETs a particular sub to single headers) QUIET SET LISTNAME SUBJecthdr FOR USER@SITE.EDU (listname in subject line QUIET SET LISTNAME ACK FOR USER@SITE.EDU (acknowledgement of posts QUIET SET LISTNAME NOACK FOR USER@SITE.EDU (turns off acknowledgement of posts QUIET CHANGE LISTNAME OLD@ADDRESS NEW@ADDRESS ================================================ (C) Adding or deleting subscribers from the list ================================================ QUIET ADD LISTNAME USER@SITE.EDU John Doe (adds new sub w/o notice) --also can be used to correct the name of a current subscriber QUIET DELete LISTNAME USER@SITE.EDU John Doe (deletes sub w/o notice) Two subscriptions with one ID. Users can ask for "lists" of all RFCs, FYIs, STDs, and IMRs having certain attributes such as their ID number, keywords, title, author, issuing organization, and date. To use the service send e-mail to RFC-INFO@ISI.EDU with your requests in the body of the message. Feel free to put anything in the SUBJECT, the system ignores it. The body of the message is processed with case independence. To get started you may send a message to RFC-INFO@ISI.EDU with requests such as in the following examples (without the explanation between []): Help: Help [to get this information page] List: FYI [list the FYI notes] List: RFC [list RFCs with window as keyword or in title] keywords: window List: FYI [list FYIs about windows] Keywords: window List: * [list all documents by Cooper] Author: Cooper List: RFC [list RFCs about ARPANET, ARPA NETWORK, etc.] title: ARPA*NET Retrieve: RFC [retrieve RFC 822] Doc-ID: RFC0822 [note, always 4 digits in RFC#] Retrieve: FYI [retrieve FYI 4] Doc-ID: FYI0004 [note, always 4 digits in FYI#] Retrieve: STD [retrieve STD 1] Doc-ID: STD0001 [note, always 4 digits in STD#] Retrieve: IMR [retrieve May 1992 Internet Monthly Report] Doc-ID: IMR9205 [note, always 4 digits = YYMM] Help: Manual [to retrieve the long user manual, 30+ pages] Help: List [how to use the LIST request] Help: Retrieve [how to use the RETRIEVE request] Help: Topics [list topics for which help is available] Help: Dates ["Dates" is such a topic] List: keywords [list the keywords in use] ============================================================= (N) System people and their addresses ============================================================= (1) General names of people of authority at on-line services to try: mailman@site.edu (etc) postman postmaster majordomo sysop (2) General names of people of authority at listservs and listproc: listmaster, postmaster (3) America On-Line David O'Donnel, (atropos@aol.net, PMDAtropos@aol.com, Atropos@gnn.com) AOL Internet Feedback/Response/Information Team Manager, LISTSERV Manager Tel. 703/453-4000 x4255 FAX 703/453-4001 Pager 800/759-8888 PIN 128-5338 ============================================================= (P) Listserve functions Show stat ============================================================= (Q) The current digest file get celiac digest get celiac subjects ============================================================= ===============end===============
