Pants and Tights

Overview

Pants are part of any argument that beginning runners don't know how to dress. Gloves go on before pants! Don't forget it! When you're running, your legs generate a lot of heat (and hands don't), so you need less over the legs than you do up top. So for example, I might wear shorts and a long sleeve tee. Or middleweight polyester tights, and a heavier windproof top. You get the idea.

The bottom line is that many people will do fine with just a lightweight pair of pants or tights, like the Sugoi Travel Pants or the BOA tights. For example, I wear the Travel pants down into the low 20s. Men who do this will want to accompany their pants with some wind briefs or boxers.

For people who need something warmer, there are several options. The SportHill XC pants for example are popular among people who like to be warm and live in the cold. SportHill also make similar ATV pants.

BOA Dritek Sensor Tight

Review

Features include 8 panel construction, zippers, drawstring. These are very nice tights, tried them on in the store before buying and was very impressed. Just the right weight for me, I can wear them at any temperature that's too cold for shorts, down to single digits. It may be good to wear briefs or something under or over them to "protect the goods" on really cold days.

The only thing that they're missing is relective material.

a good starting point for someone who wants lightweight running pants. Material is similar to that used in lightweight long sleeve tees.
