Today I went to register with a fifth temp agency, after having
nothing but bad experiences with the previous four.
I was the only person registering at Vanguard Temps on an early Monday morning. I specifically requested a word processing job, but was not given any computer testing. They did however give me a fifth grade level multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction test (Asinine) and a grade school level spelling test (again asinine).
I noticed on the application a grey area not to be written on. It was reserved space for the interviewer's evaluation of me. I was going to be rated excellent-fair-poor on appearance, dress, personality, attitute, and grooming. Grooming? I was temped to write in the grey area, what am I a poodle? I was introduced to my counselor, Ann Marie. She took less than two minutes. The quickest interview I have ever had. She said she would put my name on a list and I was to call in once a week with my availability. That was it. My the way, I give Vanguard Temps a Fair for grooming.
