I answered an newspaper advertisement for a free paid training program and called and stated my experience which is in graphics, I also had my portfolio wich has examples of my work. I tested for Windows 98 and Poerpoint on both tests because of my experience in temping I only missed 2 questions each. I sat in the office for 3 hours - was given reasons as to why they could not score my tests. finally after 1 month they had my score and would not tell it to me Michelle and Debbie stated that while I did very well on the test's I just did not answer the questions according to the text book way of doing things.....Debbie told me all the more reason I should be in thier graphics presentation training program, well I recieved a nasty call from the lady who headed the program and she said she was nervous about me because she thought I would drop out of the program and that I may not be competent enough for this program - Its funny I explained to her that my present job utilized all of the software and she could call my boss for recomendation of my stable work ethic and reliability. She stated she doesnt know why She was even told to call me and it was a waste of her time.....I am a well dressed, well raised African American Gentleman and I was treated as If I was a high school drop out I have 3 years of Honorable Military AirForce service, and I was given such a smoke screen and weeded out of a chance to partake of a free training class and was willing to sign up for a job that required a one year commitment and was nastily told I may not be competent enough as well as not smart enough to keep up in here class and she stated that she did not want to waste 3,000.00 worth of training on students that drop out, as an adult male - I cried because of this overt racism that I had been faced with, how could this be happening to me - Im used to usually being referred to as a token Black by several of my former peers and bosses not of my color, this amazed me...... Well one of my educated soulutions to this I purchased a home computer, several software training tutorials to see if there was a difference in what I knew versus text - book models that Premier Group had spoke of....As expected there was no difference.....I could not come up with any other exclamation but race - I havent begun to finish - NAACP, NEWS, NBA Network will Know.
