Comments:
Highly recommended. Small agency, only based in NYC, which I think is a plus -- you really get to develop a positive working relationship with your counselor. Pay is decent and they seem to have a solid reputation with their clients. Also I found the staff in both the downtown and midtown offices very friendly.
I've been a working professional for over 10 years so you can imagine my trepidation having to look for temporary admin work. (It's Spring 2003 as of this writing and the job market in NYC is terrible). But as my family always says, "you gotta do what you gotta do."
I came to Core based on the recommendation of a good friend. I was pleased with the fact that they're based exclusively in New York and aren't some nationwide conglomerate temp firm.
It took a little while to get some work but they really worked hard to find an assignment that fit by background. The first one -- while not glamorous work -- was in a fascinating industry and closer to my experience (advertising).
This was a huge benefit when I unexpectedly had to cut the assignment short after being offered a freelance job. I was concerned that it would adversely affect my relationship with Core, AND hurt Core's relationship with their client. Thanks to the support I got through Core, everyone understood my situation and were cool with it.
It's like anything, you get what you give. I definitely hope to work through Core again.
