Comments:
I answered several ads placed by Walsh in the New York Times website in late May and early June 2003. I replied by email or fax and sent appropriate cover letters. The whole 9 yards. Time went by and I forgot that I'd applied. Well, surprise, surprise in late July I get a call at 4:45 pm on a Friday night from a very nervous sounding woman telling me they have lots and lots of jobs and when can I come in for an interview. I had to backtrack and asked her in detail, after confirming that they took 2 months to reply to my resume, what jobs exactly did they have for temps. She wouldn't say anything but I lost my cool when she asked if I could come in right away, possibily Monday as I had such great credentials. Again, I asked her if she had what was really suitable as I wasn't going to spend $4 on trainfare only to be told I had to call in weekly and advise them of my status. I also asked her if she had a client that was pressuring her for applicants at this late hour. You see, I've been this way with several other agencies recently and it all yielded nothing and I was out $4 plus lunch money each time.
She listened patiently but couldn't give me any answers. Seems like things were really popping there. But I couldn't tell if it was corn (the old get up and go pressure tactics most agencies use) or real work.
I rate them an F in terms of timeliness.
