Comments:
So far, so good w/ Temp Alternatives. I recently resigned from my
full-time editorial job in August 2003, and I registered w/ 3 temp
agencies in Manhattan. Temp Alternatives wasted no time in getting me
work, while Aldan Troy and Merlin did nothing but jerk me
around.
They invited me to come into their office 2 weeks ago, after I sent
them my resume via e-mail. I took the normal computer tests. The
tests were multiple choice, different than most agencies. I then sat
down w/ an advisor. He was impressed w/ work experience, education,
skills, and the fact that I live in NJ (they have a large client in
Jersey City). I was told to call EVERYDAY for work, that is the only
way you obtain work from them.
I decided not to call them for the 1st week (I wanted to explore other
options). However they called me for a Sat job @ a law firm downtown.
It was from 8-5/$15 hr. That's easy money, so I took it.
I went into the office the following Monday to drop off my timesheet.
They already had a job starting the next day if I wanted it. I
couldn't take it, but I called them the following 2 days.
They hooked me up w/ a job in Marketing w/ their big client. They are
not sure how long it's going to last, but it pays $17/hr. Not bad at
all.
