Comments:
I went to ASA as part of an evening cattle call ad they placed in the NY Times. And yeah, there were a lot of cattle. The receptionists were busy, and often rude. Since I already have a permanent job (but am looking for other options), I was looking for temp to perm positions, and they were disappointed. I got the impression that they wanted more temps for their pool more than anything. I overheard a lot of the counselors telling people things like "we don't have anything in your preferred field, but would you be interested in doing financial work?" Although they advertise heavily as having advertising/cosmetic/entertainment clients, it sounded more like they were desperate to fill positions at wall street/banks/brokerage firms. Although my counselor said I had a strong resume, I only got a call back two weeks later, and even then just to check if I was open to doing anything that was not advertisng or interactive related (which is my background and preference). I have not heard from them since.
