What is Graphical Sign Synthesis (a.k.a. text-to-sign)?

Creation of 3D graphic animations from a textual representation of signs.

What are some essential features of Sign Synthesis?

1. Takes some written form of sign language as input.
2. Produces sign LANGUAGE as output.

What is NOT Sign Synthesis?

1. Systems that convert a spoken language to a signed language (although they may have some Sign Synthesis component).
2. Systems that produce an encoding of a spoken language, for example, Signed English.
