This recipe came from a newspaper clipping when I was a kid (mid-1970s). I don't know the exact date, or which newspaper, and I have no idea who "Mrs. Diekman" was. Most likely from the Wisconsin State Journal or the Capital Times (we got both papers in those days).
It's basically chocolate chip cookies with oatmeal and coconut added. It's a big recipe (makes 8 dozen), but it should be possible to cut it down. [Notes in square brackets are my mom's pencilled notes on the original clipping.]
A google search only turned up "Uncle Albert's Cookies", which is clearly not the same recipe.

"If the recipients could choose, everyone would want chocolate-chip cookies, said Mrs. Diekman, but the Albert's cookies are a runner-up."
"This is a recipe my mother made up and named after our next-door neighbor Albert because the cookies were his favorites."
2 cups flour [1c white, 1c whole wheat] 2.5 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 [0.5] teaspoon salt 1 cup lard [oleo] 2 [1.5] cups brown sugar (or can use white or half of each) 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup coconut 3.5 [4] cups oatmeal 1 cup chocolate chips [1c rice krispies] [also soy nuts?]
Sift dry ingredients together. Cream lard, brown sugar and eggs. Add vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Mix thoroughly. Stir in coconut, oatmeal and chocolate chips. Mixture will be coarse, and you may have to add a little water if batter is too dry. Make walnut-sized balls, flatten [and roll in sugar before baking-- my mom crossed this part out]. Bake at 350 [330] degrees for 12 [10] minutes or until done. Cookies will crack on top. Makes about 8 dozen cookies.
