Serenity
'Firefly' based feature film outdoes all
three recent Star Wars films in terms of wit, charm, and
personality.
Set 500 years in the future, Serenity puts the a
highly psychic girl, River Tam, and her protective brother in the ship of Malcom
Reynolds. A very dangerous assassin sent out by "the Alliance" is on their trail
and will stop at nothing to get her, putting the crew in jeopardy.
The film is reminiscent of the
original 1976 Star Wars film, with Nathan Fillion's Malcom very much in a role
similar to Harrison Ford's Han Solo. The entire film's tenor hangs off of his
wit and doubts. While there is a high-concept storyline in the background, the
real fun is the interaction between Malcom and his crew.
