6 January 1999: Pistol Packin' Madness

Not much happened today, except that I learned that someone at work is awaiting their gun license. Yes, a gun license. Awaited with great glee, as apparently she is an excellent shot.

The logic, that "when you have guns around the house, it's important to know how to use them," fails me. The main issue is, why, when you live in Brooklyn, are there guns around the house. Having a boyfriend in the military is no excuse. Unless you're living at a military base, why on Earth would you need guns around anyway?

Because this is Uhmuhrica, m'kaaaay?

Nor did the gleam in her eye reassure me, as she told me how they go up to Connecticut to a shooting range.

There's also something very manipulative about revealing all this in the workplace to the people who report to you.
