26 April 1999: Unpopularity

By now everyone has heard of the murderous rampage two high school student in Columbine High School

What the media doesn't cover as flagrantly is that once again, these rampaging, armed teenagers who shot up there school were taunted by the jocks who labeled them gay. They weren't.

Considering that 97% of teens polled said that being called a faggot was the "worst thing" they could be called, and considering how people hate being unjustly accused, why are these incidents so surprising.

For what it's worth, I think most gay people taunted in high school just grit their teeth and live through it, and hope to get the hell outta there. It's the straight ones who go berserk.

Being called gay should not be "the worst insult imaginable." I can think of worse accusations. Mass murderer, embezzler, liar, etc. But gay?

If only America would just get over it already.
