Complete Domain Name

A Domain Name is no more than 26 characters, and is only the second-level name, as in 'example.com', 'example.net', or example.org'. Do not fill hostname information, like http:// or www., it is unneccessary.

To make sure the Domain Name you want isn't already registered to someone else, you may check the InterNIC's database with the field below. Simply type in your desired domain name into the field below and click sumbit.

Organization Using Domain Name

The domain name is considered to be registered to a "legal entity", even if the legal entity is an individual (e.g., Lee Smith). Do not list a "dba" or acronym as the registrant. In this section, it is important to list the legal name and address of the Registrant, not the Internet Service Provider ("ISP"). Panix, New York's First Internet Service Provider

NIC Handle

Each contact in NSI's database is assigned a "handle" - a unique tag to differentiate him/her from all other contacts in the database. Only one handle should exist for each Individual or Role. If the contact handle is already in the database, insert it in the NIC Handle field and leave the rest of the section blank. If the contact handle is inserted and additional information is also provided, only the contact handle will be used. Any additional information will be ignored. Use contact handles whenever possible.

If you think you have a NIC Handle (for example, you definately have a NIC Handle if you've been listed as a contact for a domain before), but don't remember it, you can check the InterNIC's database.

Enter your name in the format lastname, firstname, and click submit. Your NIC Handle will be the string of capital letters and numbers in parenthases, following your name (if it turns up).
