We walked across Central Park to the Natural History Museum to see the newly renovated gem and mineral display. They had all varieties of minerals.

... and a large piece of grape agate.
They had jewelry and carvings from gems and minerals. There was a Chinese vase carved from jade and the artist carved a chain from a solid piece of rock.

There is a popular spot in our neighborhood for Italian ices in our neighborhood. I have tried the Italian ices before, which is kind of between sorbet and a snow cone. The other night I tried their soft serve ice cream and I got pistachio and raspberry. There is always a line now that we are in the hottest part of the summer but it's worth the wait!
There is a hall with dioramas of different landscapes from around America and one of them was called "Early October in Southern New Hampshire." I thought it was very accurate!
