We hiked up to the botanical garden. The entrance is on top of the hill behind the fortress we went to yesterday. The main area of the garden is in the valley between the two hills we hiked up yesterday. On top of the hill is the Mother of Georgia statue, who holds a wine glass in one hand to welcome Georgia's friends and a sword in the other for Georgia's enemies. Another day full of hills and stairs! After the botanical garden we had a nice light lunch with a two classic Georgian vegetable dishes, a tomato and cucumber salad and a dip made of spinach and walnut. I had an electric green tarragon lemonade, which is a popular drink here. We also had barbecued pork. |
