Owl Encounter #2

Click photos to enlarge.

After that first encounter with the owl - in which I was not entirely sure what I was looking at -
I returned to the scene, hoping I could find it again. I was walking that same section of the
trail and watching for it. I could see it, maybe fifteen feet away, behind two trees. That's photo
number one. I watched it for a minute before it flew down and lit on the ground nearby. Then it
went over to a fallen tree. It looked like it caught and ate something but I could not see. That's
photo number 2.

It flew to another tree and sat on a limb for minute or two before flying over to the creek. I could
barely see it at that point so I moved on.

I'll be watching for it now that I know a little about its habits. Maybe I can get some better
photos. The problem is, it's crepuscular. Magnificent and crepuscular1.

1. Crepuscular: (of an animal) appearing or active in twilight.
