Translation keeps putting the hallowed ground of languages to the test: How far removed is their hidden meaning from revelation, how close can it be brought by the knowledge of this remoteness?

This, to be sure, is to admit that translation is only a somewhat provisional way of coming to terms with the foreignness of languages.
