The Most Anticipated Movie Releases Remaining in 2024

In a post we did around the releases of 2024, we spoke about every single big release coming out in this wonderful year. Now we are quickly approaching the end of the year, there are still a massive amount of movies and TV shows yet to be released. It is an exciting time to be a fan of movies and TV and even for those people who are not into either of these, you will find something you can be excited about.

Megalopolis

Unfortunately, this film has been plagued with controversy and slightly swept under the rug due to a huge mixed reception. However, Francis Ford Coppola is still one of the best directors of all time, helming classics like Godfather Part One and Two as well as Apocalypse Now.

On the surface this is a fantastic resume but diving in you will see some issues in the career of Coppola. As we said the release has been plagued with controversy and that is due to the man himself.

His actions have brought some negative attention and although the film's cast and crew are staked, we are not certain that the film will do well. However, even with all of this, we are still interested in seeing it. The studio has taken a risk on this film, like when you place a bet on football, and I can see it either being a huge mistake or a massive win.

Joker: Folie à Deux

When Joker was released it got massive acclaim both critically and by fans with the film having one of the biggest R-rated box office runs ever recorded and being nominated (and winning) several Oscars. Originally, Joker was meant to be a standalone film and not have a sequel but as soon as the success from the first happened, everyone knew the sequel was inevitable.

Five years later, we are a few weeks away from the release of the sequel and the excitement from fans seems to be bubbling. There is one major difference between the first and second films, however, with the sequel being a musical.

With the film getting Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn it is clear they are leaning heavily on the singing aspect of the film. We love musicals here but we are unsure of how it will work in the context of the Joker world, but with Todd Phillips directing and writing, we have faith.

Gladiator 2

In 2000, the film Gladiator was released and instantly became a classic. Winning the Best Picture at the Oscars, it felt like a perfect example of a fantastic standalone film that didn't need a sequel. But, here we are, 24 years later and Gladiator 2 is quickly approaching. Forgetting the obvious question of why, we are left with the trailer and the cash to judge how we feel about it and if we are being hornets, these are both massive ticks.

Firstly, the cast is magnificent with Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, Pedro Pascal (our new Reed Richards) and Denzel Washington being the main leads. This is a perfect mix of talent that is established and newer talent that is breaking into the spotlight. Joseph Quinn is getting bigger and bigger with every release and every project.

However, I think Paul Mescal could be the best part of this film and a big part of Hollywood in the coming years. With him only being 28, the Irish actor has had an astounding career thus far with great success in films like Aftersun and in TV shows like Normal People.

This is my most anticipated release of the year now and I am excited to see how the cast and crew handle the sequel to the classic film.
