« prev Microsoft Office 2000 Rapid Deployment Program next »

LAUNCH DATE: June 15, 1998.
Initial engagement of 3 months, but the site remained available via password with periodic updates until the end of the RDP program and the Microsoft Office 2000 release in May 1999.

PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Manager and client contact. The T3 Media project team consisted of a Graphic Designer, a Web Integrator, and a Software Engineer.

SUMMARY:
The Microsoft Office 2000 Rapid Deployment Program Web Site provided information and support to Enterprise beta testers of Microsoft's Office 2000 software. The site addressed the business value of Office 2000, and answered key overview and technical questions. A variety of documents introduced the software and provided an overview of the new features. Beta testers used the site to access information regarding ongoing training sessions that addressed deployment of the software within their companies, and to offer feedback on the Rapid Deployment Program, the Web Site, and on each individual document.

Security was of paramount importance to this site as the software package had not yet been released. As a result ASP coding was used to ensure that no user could view any of the pages without first logging into the site.

The site included an administration tool for Microsoft leads to add, modify, and delete beta tester permissions. Each tester was associated with a company, and each company had it’s own "Virtual Team" page associated with their own training sessions. Users were automatically directed to their company page based upon their initial login information. Microsoft users were directed to a list of all participating companies.

To make the administration of the program worthwhile, Microsoft needed feedback from beta testers. The administration tool allowed Microsoft leads to view and filter the information submitted through a series of feedback forms.

A CD version of the site was sent to IT departments of participating companies so that they could add the site to their corporate intranet to that employees without internet access could learn about Office 2000.

Over the course of the next 6 months additional CD versions of the site were developed using the basic framework from the RDP site, but all new content developed. T3 Media's challenge in creation of CD versions of the site lay not in development, but in supporting the client and the Microsoft editorial team to ensure timely content development and delivery.
