Matthew Yglesias makes a very good point, while Americans complain about various minor personal peccadillos of our politicians, “French President Nicholas Sarkozy got divorced early in his term, is dating a supermodel and his son’s writing songs for radical French rappers”.

His thesis is that not only our concerns small minded, but that our politicians have pretty dull lives.

I agree.
