I've decided to go ahead with the screening at AMMI. Some of my friends
expressed concern that film-industry types might be unlikely to make the
journey to Queens, but I eventually reminded myself that film-industry
types are unlikely to respond well to the film anyway and probably shouldn't
even be invited. The only influential people I'm really interested
in at this point are critics of the film-buff persuasion, who have liked
the film thus far when they've seen it; and all film buffs know how to
get to AMMI. My fantasy of how to promote the film is that critics
who like the film might help me get into film festivals. And only
after some success on the festival circuit (a pretty far-fetched concept,
I admit) would I attempt to get the film to distributors and such.
