The first day of the Independent Feature Film Market (IFFM) basically consisted
of registration, an opening ceremony and a party--the screenings and seminars
don't start until tomorrow. Still, I'm already starting to wonder
if this event is going to be as social an experience as I expected-- I
didn't see a soul I knew all day, and I barely met anyone. Unfortunately,
I spent the whole day recoiling from the sales-convention atmosphere instead
of encouraging my outgoing side. Tomorrow the action moves to the
main locations (the Angelika Theater for the screenings and the Anthology
Film Archive for the seminars), so I'm reserving judgment.
