Info Documents Area
Welcome to the Info Documents Area of the Out-a-Time Information Center. This
is a collection of mostly computer related reference documents. In addition to
containing basic information, some of these pages contain links to other points in
CyberSpace. I hope it proves to be useful. Finally, if you discover any
inaccuracies in the documents, please inform me and I'll make every effort to correct
them. Enjoy the material!
- Selecting a PC Workstation -- This article is revised
from a paper I wrote a year or two ago. Although some of the references are
slightly dated, the basic guiding principles are still valid. It covers the key
points which should be considered when buying a computer. I hope it will force
the typical consumer to think a little rather than blindly trust the salesman!
- The World of Modems -- Modems are becoming more
and more important in the home computer market. The problem is that many users
only know that it is the piece of the computer that connects to the phone. This
article contains some basic info on what terms like 16500 UART, V.32bis, V.42, and full
duplex mean. Finally, the article contains links to a few of the big modem
manufacturers.
- The E/A Home Page Primer -- Do you find
that many of the articles about designing a web page feel wrong to you? Does all
that advice about changing your page often to attract people to your site
seem inappropriate? This article is directed for those professionals in the
consulting indistry where "services" are the product. It covers the basics you
need to understand in-order to design a web page which will get your information
to your clients quickly & directly

Modern Business Tools: Intranets & Extranets
-- This article attempts to give an overview of the use of Intranets and Extranets
in the business environment of the late 1990's. The article contains real world examples,
a brief synopsis of the Internet's origins, and some opinions. Note: They were modern
business tools when I originally wrote it. If they're not, then treat it as a historical
paper :)
