writer Alex De Witt

"Friction" was born out of the Labyrinth Master Class. Alex was inspired by Cherelle Cargill's stellar acting in the first scene Alex wrote for her. Produced Plays: "Prime Time" (Cosmic Breeez, Inc.) "The Lunch" (Liquid Productions), "Joe and the Cat Burglar" (Oak Creek Theater) "The Man Who Wore Skirts" (Oak Creek Theater). "Holy Terror" (a play about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict) finalist 2005, Centre Stage North Carolina, staged reading. Alex is writing two musicals, both with Fern R Lopez. The film "In Tents" starring Bianca Jamotte is currently in post production. Novel "The Phobian Project", is available on Amazon. Other plays; "A Farce Without Doors", "A Parable of a Queen" "Romantic Tragedy" "Exit Screaming"  "Our Furnished Apartment" "Casting Office" Alex writes comedies, as well as screenplays. 2 year Actor Training, William Esper. director Fern R Lopez

This is Fern's third production as a director in New York City. Previous productions were "The Lunch" and "Prime Time." He has also been involved as a producer in various pieces, including the musical "Rooms" for which he also served as one of the executive producers of the cast recording. He is currently co-writing and composing a new musical with Alex De Witt. Fern is grateful to be working with such a terrific cast and creative team.


sets Norm Golden

Norm Golden has been an actor, director, scenic and lighting designer for the last forty years. He has worked in academic, community, regional, and Off Off Broadway theatres as well as film and TV. He can be seen as an actor in several national commercials, among them Citicard "Father and Son go to Norway." lights Patrick Smith

Patrick Smith has an extensive background in film and video production. Patrick worked in L.A. as a Cinematographer, Camera Man and Production Coordinator for many Independent Films and Commercials. In 2008 he returned to New York and is currently the Production Coordinator for the Center for Learning and Innovation at NSLIJ-HS. He is creating and producing educational videos for the joint venture medical school with Hofstra University. He has extensive experience in theatrical lighting and is a competitive sailor, racing in many regattas on Long Island Sound.


costumes Marea Judilla

Costume designer Marea Judilla is a visual artist with experience working in up-cycled plastic, fabric sculpture, aerial costuming, and an array of freelance wardrobe projects at Baryshnikov Arts Center. She started a design company in 2009 called DesignSpaceConcept (www.designspaceconcept.com) which features an up-cycled fashion and home accessories line called UseRefuse. Costumes have been exhibited in this year's BoCoCa Arts Festival, Astrea funded aerial production called "Quiet Come Dawn," "The Paul Robeson Project" produced by Kim Howard and "Culture Classics" presented by Brown Girls Burlesque. Press buzz surrounding her work populates various online magazines and blogs such as Time Out New York, Found in Brooklyn, and The Dress Recycler.


sound Scott Burton

In addition to doing sound for this most excellent group, Scott spends his discretionary time playing bass in the band the “Moroccan Sheepherders” of which he is a founding member. He also enjoys teaching as an adjunct instructor at NYU. Susan Lee is a graphic designer by day (critical member of the FABS Group) and stage manager by night. She has become the ideal stage manager since she has the gift of never being wrong. The cast tolerates that since it saves time and they don't have to think so much.

Wendy Combs is a graphic designer by day in the financial world. She loves make-up and has assisted during NYC Fashion Week. She has had fun working with the Friction team and watching the plot unfold… break a leg.

This is Diana's first experience on a production crew and she is loving it! Diana studied acting and voice when she lived in Massachusetts and performed in various small shows during her time there. Cherelle Cargill Chery is jumping on the other side of the curtain for the first time. She has learnt and "scene" alot. Katelyn Collins has recently moved to the city, graduating from Salem State University with her BFA in theatre arts. Though she is an actress, just being in the space and contributing to any show in any way fills her soul. Recent acting credits include Eva in Hollywood! Hollywood! (Write Act East Side, New York, NY), Babe in Crimes of the Heart (SSU), and Sophia in Fools (SSU). Stage management, set construction, and run crew credits include a plethera of others. Many thanks to Megs Kudmala for introducing her to the talented Alex De Witt and to Alex herself for inviting her on board.

Alicia Ross is a recent MA graduate of NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Having started her career in network television, she has always had a passion for the arts. This is Alicia's debut working behind the scenes in off-Broadway and she hopes it is just the beginning!

Brian Downing is an efficiency expert, all around mechanic, and armchair psychologist. He particular enjoys psychoanalyzing characters in film and analytically decomposing scripts. He's a wannabe writer/director with a glut of personal material. Formerly a Wall St. IT manager, he gave it all up to become “Mr. Mom.” Brian looks after his nine year old son and moonlights as a web developer.

Normally, a film/television professional, this is Corey's first exposure to the theatrical craft. He has a degree in TV/film production from the Art Institute of New York. His specialties range from camera, grip and lighting.


lighting crew Joseph Errante

He is a professional stage electrician who has lived and worked in 42 states doing all sorts of shows in a variety of venues since the early 1980's. He is still committed to live theatre and supporting from "Behind The Scenes," "Onwards, Indeed."
