September 28-October 1, Camping Trip, Assateague Island National Seashore, Assateague MD
Camp behind the dunes on this beautiful barrier island off the coast of Maryland. Wonderful wild ponies share the island with people! We have reserved an oceanside group site for the weekend. Vehicles can drive up near the site, unload, and park close by. There is a boardwalk to access the site. We can also meet at the canoe/kayak rental lot, and paddle on the calm bay side of the island. This trip is a longer drive than most. Join us for the long weekend! Cold showers and chemical toilets in the national park, hot showers in the adjacent state park. $15 entrance fee per vehicle. To arrange carpooling, contact a trip leader ASAP.

November 16-18, Cabin Trip, Nockamixon State Park, Quakertown PA
An eight-person electric-heated, furnished cabin will be our home base for the weekend. Within the state park, you can fish or boat in the 1,450-acre lake, ride a horse or a bike, hike, or just relax with a book or play board games. You'll need to bring pots and pans, kitchen utensils and bedding. The cabin is heated and has a bathroom with a hot shower. The Leonids meteor shower starts late on Friday night and continues into the wee hours of Saturday morning. If the weather cooperates, we should get quite a show. The Leonids are usually the best meteor shower of the year. For more information about the Leonids, go to http://earthsky.org/astronomy-essentials/earthskys-meteor-shower-guide and scroll down to November 16-17, 2012.
