December 30-January 2, Holiday Weekend Trip, New Year's Eve!, Athol NY Have a Happy New Year's with Campers' Group! We have rented 2 houses for 3 nights near Gore Mountain and Lake George in the southern Adirondacks, close to great hiking, skiing and many other attractions. *** A recent COVID vaccination, and if requested, a negative COVID test result (immediately preceding) is required to attend any indoor event. If we don't know your status, you may be asked to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result. *** Skiing, Sledding and tubing: * Gore Mountain - downhill skiing, sledding/tubing, gondola rides & mountain biking. *Breathtaking scenery!* * North Creek Ski Bowl - cross country skiing * Lake George Recreational Park - large sledding hill! * Warrensburg Recreational Park - sledding hill * Beaver Brook outfitters (tubing) - on the way to the cabin. Hiking: Crane Mountain, Hackensack Mountain, Prospect Mountain, Cat & Thomas Mountains, Potash Mountain, Hadley Mountain, The Pinnacle, Buttermilk Brook, and many more trails - mostly easy to moderate. Farms: * Nettle Meadow Goat Farm, offers a self guided tour and home of their world famous goat cheese. - Warrensburg * Toad Hill Maple Farm, wonderful store filled with maple products. - Athol * Whitefield's Farm, fresh eggs, meat & produce. - Athol Food & Drink: * The Boat House Restaurant - Bolton Landing (owner's favorite) * Adirondack Pub & Brewery - Lake George * Duffy's Tavern - Lake George The 2 houses, the Main house and the Bunk house, are close to each other on the same property. The main house (where we will get together for New Year's Eve), has 5 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, 3 full bathrooms, large kitchen, large buffet serving counter, 2 dinning rooms, living room and 2 large screened porches (1 heated). The bunk house has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, common bunk room with 5 beds upstairs, full kitchen and bathroom, dining room and living room. The owner provides freshly sanitized bed linens and towels (should the guest not bring their own), also blankets and pillows. A fireplace in the main house, outdoor grill and Wi-Fi are included. We plan to have a potluck dinner, and will discuss in the comments to decide what and which day (most likely NYE). Please state what you would like to bring when you RSVP. RSVP price is per person. January 14-17, Hostel Trip, Green Mountain House, Manchester Center VT We'll be in the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont for the MLK holiday weekend! *** A recent COVID vaccination, and if requested, a negative COVID test result (immediately preceding) is required to attend any indoor event. If we don't know your status, you may be asked to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result. *** There will be cross-country skiing at Viking Nordic Center (http://www.vikingnordic.com/) - even at night!. There is downhill skiing at Stratton (https://www.stratton.com/) and Bromley Mountains (https://www.bromley.com/winter/). We will also be snowshoeing or hiking (the AT is nearby), having a Saturday pot luck dinner, and much more! We'll be staying at the Green Mountain House Hostel (www.greenmountainhouse.net) in Manchester, Vermont, just 5 miles west of the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail. We will have the exclusive use of the hostel; it sleeps about 10 people in 3 bedrooms, has comfortable twin beds and bunk beds w/ clean linens, blankets & pillows. Besides a total of 9 permanent beds, the hostel will be providing 1 additional mattress and bed linens that will be added to one of the rooms, for a total of 10 beds for our group. Towels, soap & shampoo are provided. We will also have the exclusive use of a fully equipped kitchen, with basic breakfast supplies provided for free. Wi-Fi access and a landline phone is available for free long-distance calls. All beds are single/twin beds. Bedroom 1 sleeps 4 or 5, bedroom 2 sleeps 2 or 3, bedroom 3 sleeps 3 with an upper/lower bunk. Beds and rooms will be assigned by a host according to what works best for the group. Sorry, no one under 21 on this trip, adults only. The parking is limited to about 6-7 cars in the hostel parking lot. Carpooling is recommended. The hostel will work out additional parking if needed. RSVP price is per person. A particular bed or bedroom will not be guaranteed unless assigned by a host. Start and end times above reflect the approximate hours we are allowed to occupy the hostel. Check-in at the hostel will start early Friday afternoon, check-out is late morning Monday. You are welcome to arrive any time Friday or Saturday, but if arriving on Friday, it is advised to try to get there before dark. When you RSVP, you are paying for the weekend. The online payment of $89 is for one person, which will only cover the cost to stay with the group in the hostel. During the weekend, we may also split the cost of food for pot luck dinners. Sunday, February 6, Day Trip, Fahnestock Winter Park, Carmel NY *** CANCELLED *** Weather permitting, join us for cross-country skiing in popular Fahnestock Winter Park. The Park features a warming lodge with ski rentals, food, beverages, and restrooms. Rentals may be available on a first come, first served basis. There are 11 miles of machine groomed, tracked and mapped trails for beginning and experienced skiers and snowshoers. Families find the park particularly enjoyable because it offers easy terrain to ski on near the lodge. The sledding hill and hot chocolate to sip in front of the outdoor fireplace are nice compliments to day-long trips... It is advisable to get there by 9am if you want to rent ski equipment in the morning. Otherwise youll have to wait until skiers come back to rent your size for an afternoon session. You can also call the Ski Center at (845) 225-3998, or check the Ski Report. An optional hike may be planned if there is not enough snow.

February 18-21, Cabin Trip, Frost Valley YMCA Lodge, Claryville NY We are returning to Frost Valley YMCA for the holiday weekend! *** A recent COVID vaccination, and if requested, a negative COVID test result (immediately preceding) is required to attend any indoor event. If we don't know your status, you may be asked to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result. *** A typical Frost Valley weekend has campers arriving and checking in Friday after 4:00 p.m., getting acquainted with the camp, and enjoying a snack and some hot drinks at the dining hall. All meals are included with your payment. There is a good variety of food, and plenty of it! Saturday is a day full of cross country skiing, snow shoeing, hiking, ice fishing, tubing, arts and crafts and other indoor or outdoor activities. Sunday morning you can either relax by the fire (if you are tired from Saturday's activities), or go out again and do the things you did not get to on the first day. A stream with a waterfall that often turns into an ice fall in the winter is on the property. There are 30 miles of hiking trails, and over 15 miles of trails for cross-country skiing. We have reserved Hayden Lodge, with a capacity of 25 in 3 different bunk rooms. Each room has its own bathroom. There is a common room with a fireplace. All cross-country ski equipment, snow shoes, tubing, and most other programs are included. You do not need to bring money for any of this; your RSVP fee will cover it. This is a great place for children and families. Pets are not allowed. Sunday checkout is at noon. The all inclusive price is $217.00 per person. Lodges come equipped with a pillow and a blanket. For an additional fee of $9.00 per set, you can get bed sheets, a bath towel, wash cloth and a bar of soap. If you would like to purchase this we will need to know when you RSVP. Otherwise, bring pillows, bedding (sheets and/or sleeping bags), toiletries and lots of clothing layers (not cotton), hats, gloves, winter footwear, headlamp or flashlight, water bottles/hydration pack and/or backpack. You may wish to bring a camp chair and sled. We believe there is ice fishing on one of the lakes if you want to bring a fishing pole. Frost Valley keeps track of who is in the facility. They also check your ID for registered sex offenders and will not let people stay that are on that list. We will try to match drivers with passengers. Due to Frost Valley's remote location, there is NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION in this area. You will lose cell phone service well before reaching Frost Valley. Please plan accordingly. They do have house phones located on property. You can make outgoing calls using a calling card, credit card, or by calling collect. They do sell calling cards at the Administration Building and the Camp Store for $2 or $5 each. Wi-Fi is available in the Main Dining Hall and Geyer Hall. Sunday, March 6, Day Trip, Cross Country Ski Facility, Somewhere NY Depending on the latest snowfall, we will plan a cross-country ski day trip to a local facility, like Fahnestock State Park or High Point State Park. Please check our meetup.com page for the latest info. It is advisable to get there by 9am if you want to rent ski equipment in the morning. Otherwise you'll have to wait until skiers come back to rent your size for an afternoon session. If we do not have enough snow, a hike may be planned instead. Please dress in synthetic or light wool layers, no cotton!
