Sunday, March 5, Hike, Snowshoe or Cross-Country Ski, Hike, Snowshoe or Cross-Country Ski, Unknown NJ
Depending if there is new snowfall, some packed snow and ice, or none at all, we may be hiking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Leading up to this event, we will let you know to bring/rent snowshoes, x-c skis, or just hiking boots and Microspikes, and where to meet us. We will most likely hike/snowshoe in Apshua Preserve, in northern NJ, but if conditions are right, we could snowshoe or cross-country ski in High Point State Park NJ or Fahnestock Winter Park NY, where snowshoe and ski rentals are available.
If it is icy, wearing Microspikes or another type of traction device on your hiking boot may be necessary for ice and packed snow. Dress in light synthetic or wool layers (no cotton), wear hiking boots or snow boots that can manage rocky trails, and bring lunch or energy snacks with about 1-2 liters of water. Always bring a headlamp, just in case!
Well-behaved dogs and their owners are welcome. If the owner and dog have not hiked with us before, the owner must contact the host for permission. Dogs should be kept on a 6ft leash during the hike.
Please RSVP here.

The Lodge sleeps up to 24 people in comfortable rooms of 2, 3 or 4 beds with a private bath for each room. We have reserved several rooms. All rooms except one have their own outside entrance, with only two having an entrance inside the lodge. Room assignments will be given upon arrival. You must bring your own personal soap, towels, bathmat, bed linen and pillow case; they provide pillows and blankets. The towering stone fireplace will welcome you into the large living room with the modern kitchen just beyond. Basic breakfast food is provided, but you are welcome to bring all your own for all meals. French doors lead out to a large deck, overlooking the wooded property. The deck is the perfect place to watch for deer, cooking on the gas grill or search the magnificent starlit Vermont sky.
